Hi all,

Can you help me finding the coordinates of the corners of POH?

I mean cartezian coordinates... for the lower left corner and upper right corner... as believe these are the min and max ones.

Use MC...IIRC it shows the coordinates on the map screen.
Or wait till late today. I'll take a look.

Copy 3Balls, have tried MC, but it still gives me alot of "out of memory" errors, korean map in the box, didn't get much confident on seeing the right coordinates...

Will wait for your feedback and also try myself again, later today.

Top Right shows as 43,23.556N 025,13.424 E

Bottom Left 25N 000E

 

There could be a small error on this measures... but I don´t know for what are these coords needed... so I don´t know if the small error is a factor or not.

These will be required for the "Vortacs" implementing.

First will creat a tool for Cartezian <-> Falcon/Tile X/Y coords convertions.

How did you get these coords?

Believe that precision will sufice, but in any case... was it MC?

Well, tried to use again MC and believe this time could get same coords...

But have also found that theater is a little tilted, probably maching some deviations due to geoid adaptations, right?

So, as far as I could see, here what is happening in POH theater square;

Can you confirm?

Basically, it's a carteziam trapezium, with top/botton paralell lines and a very little shift at left (0.33' to East) and a bigger shift at right (5º 00.2' to East)...

There is somewhere a post from Joe talking about this IIRC... on the days when we wanted to use Western coordinates.

 

I think he will have the data, but I'm not sure. Even trying to get some values to use them on TACEDIT were difficult. I came up with some values, but the distortion and errors are terrible.

 

Coordinates will be wrong in any case... I won't bother too much chasing precision coordinates.

Although, cannot find any objective information on this issue...

 

Anyway, when I mention cartezian coordinates, am talking about falcon cartezian as opposed to the X/Y tiles ones... am not talking about geographic ones... ;)

Bienvenidos al mundo de Falcon.... Echale un vistazo a cualquier otro teatro y observarás el mismo fenomeno.

El problema es que la proyeccion de los mapas creados por Dem2terrain en el mundo de Falcon son muy especiales.

La distorsion es menor mientras más nos acercamos al ecuador (korea p.e).... Y la distorsion se hace aberrante si nos acercamos a los polos.


Esta tan especial proyeccion dio muchos problemas para la creacion del terreno SRTM. Closter trabajó en es proyecto y el SRTM, aunque BMS lo descartó, se convirtió en una realidad:

Finally could get Terrain Editor to work and got a better knowledge of what is going on.

Now my biggest doubt is how cartezian coordinates are implemented?

Is it by each tile?
